In Kenya, the Betting Control and Licensing Board (BCLB) stated that the licensing requirements of most gambling companies that applied for licenses or their renewal were not met. This is written by the local publication The Star.

In May 2022, Interior Minister **** Matiangi instructed BCLB to ensure that all applicants applying for new or renewal of previously issued licenses received the appropriate permits from the Kenya Revenue Authority, the Financial Reporting Center, the Interdepartmental Security Group and the country's Communications Directorate.

As a result, the regulator has prepared a report on the compliance status of companies for obtaining licenses for bookmaking, lotteries and gambling.

"The report shows that most of these companies have not fulfilled the stated requirements. Consequently, their applications were not satisfied," the document says.

The Betting Control and Licensing Board also added that they had informed all rejected operators that their applications could be reviewed if they were re-submitted after all the requirements were met.
